Caregiver Pay & Benefits

What A-Team Pays — And Why Caregivers Stay

Bi-weekly W-2 paychecks, the $2,000 Quality Care Program bonus, paid state DCW training, and the kind of office support most agencies skip.

Quality Care Program
$2,000retention & quality bonus (eligibility-dependent)

A-Team's $2,000 Quality Care Program is paid out based on hours worked, attendance, EVV compliance, and program eligibility. Specific terms — including hours required and payout schedule — are reviewed at intake. Combined with bi-weekly W-2 pay and PA-state-provided DCW training, the program is designed so caregivers who show up, stay clocked in, and treat clients well can earn meaningfully more than what the base rate alone shows.

Direct Care Worker training in Pennsylvania is governed by the Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL) and 55 Pa. Code Chapter 52 / Chapter 1101. A-Team coordinates the OLTL-approved training pathway (Frontline Safety Orientation + Foundational Skills) at no cost to the caregiver.

Who Joins A-Team

4 People Who Most Often Apply To A-Team

Most A-Team caregivers come from one of these four situations. If any of them sound like you — you're already most of the way there.

Experienced HHA looking for steadier work

If you've been bouncing between agencies that pay weekly cash but ghost on hours, A-Team is W-2 with bi-weekly direct deposit, RN supervision, and the $2,000 Quality Care Program. Same caregiving — without the chaos.

Family member already caring for a loved one

If you're already bathing, dressing, or helping a parent or relative on Pennsylvania Medicaid, you may qualify to be paid for what you're already doing through the A-Team Family Caregiver Program. Not a side hustle — a Direct Care Worker job.

Bilingual caregiver — Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian

A-Team's office runs in four languages and matches caregivers to clients by language preference. If you speak Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian, your skill is a hiring advantage here, not a footnote on your application.

Brand-new caregiver who needs the state DCW training

You don't need a CNA, HHA, or PCA certificate to start. Pennsylvania requires OLTL-approved Direct Care Worker training — A-Team coordinates the entire pathway at no cost to you, before your first paid shift.

What We Tell Every Caregiver On Day One
The caregiver is the agency. The office, the schedule, the paperwork — none of it matters if the person at the bedside doesn't care. So we hire for that first, train for the rest, and pay you to stay.

Caregiver FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The seven things caregivers ask most often before applying to A-Team.

What is Pennsylvania state DCW training, and is it free at A-Team?
Direct Care Worker (DCW) training is the Pennsylvania OLTL-approved training pathway every paid in-home caregiver must complete before delivering Medicaid-funded personal care. It includes Frontline's Safety Orientation plus Foundational Skills. A-Team coordinates the full DCW training at no cost to the caregiver — you don't pay tuition, you don't buy materials. Training is governed by the Pennsylvania Office of Long-Term Living and 55 Pa. Code (Chapters 52 and 1101).
How fast can I start working after I apply?
If you're already a certified HHA, PCA, or CNA: most A-Team hires move from application to a phone interview within a few business days, complete W-2 paperwork and background check next, then are matched to a client. First shifts often start within 24–48 hours of match. If you need full DCW training first, that timeline extends — but A-Team starts the training pathway at no cost so you can begin paid shifts as soon as you're certified.
Can I be paid to care for my own family member?
Yes — through the A-Team Family Caregiver Program. Adult relatives (other than the spouse or anyone holding power of attorney for the care recipient) can be paid as Direct Care Workers to provide personal care for their loved one, funded through Pennsylvania Community HealthChoices (CHC), the PCA Philadelphia OPTIONS Program, or JFCS enrollment. All paid family caregivers complete state-provided DCW training before the first shift.
Do I need a CNA or HHA certificate to start?
No — Pennsylvania does not require certification (only training) for Direct Care Workers, Home Health Aides, and Personal Care Aides. A-Team will hire candidates new to caregiving and coordinate the OLTL-approved DCW training pathway at no cost. Companion Caregiver and PCA roles are the most common entry points. RN and LPN positions, of course, require an active Pennsylvania nursing license.
What hours are available — daytime, overnight, weekends?
All of them. A-Team runs day shifts, evening shifts, overnight shifts, weekend coverage, and live-in cases across five Pennsylvania counties. Caregivers tell us the schedule preference at intake (e.g., "weekdays only," "overnights with a regular weekend off," "live-in for a steady single client") and the recruiter matches available client cases against it.
What's the $2,000 Quality Care Program?
The $2,000 Quality Care Program is A-Team's retention and quality bonus, paid based on hours worked, attendance, EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) compliance, and program eligibility. Specific terms — including hours required, payout schedule, and exclusions — are reviewed during intake before you commit. The program stacks on top of bi-weekly W-2 base pay; it is not a replacement for hourly wages.
Where does A-Team operate — which counties?
A-Team Home Care serves five Pennsylvania counties: Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester. The Philadelphia office is at 2751 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19133. The Bucks County office is at 2 Park Lane, Suite 106, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053. Caregivers are matched to client cases by neighborhood and travel preference — A-Team does not dispatch caregivers across the entire metro by random; placement respects where you actually live.
