Who Veteran Home Care Is For

4 Veterans and Families Who Most Often Call A-Team

The Aid & Attendance benefit applies to a wider range of veterans than most families realize — including surviving spouses and recently discharged veterans with service injuries.

WWII or Korean War veteran, 90+, at home

The oldest surviving veterans often need the most help — and have earned the highest Aid & Attendance benefit amounts. A 90+ veteran who needs daily personal care — bathing, dressing, mobility — is typically eligible. A-Team starts care immediately through VetAssist and processes the application simultaneously.

Vietnam veteran with PTSD or dementia

Vietnam veterans are now in their 70s and 80s. Many are dealing with both the effects of aging and the long-term consequences of service — PTSD, Agent Orange-related conditions, dementia. A-Team matches caregivers with veteran sensitivity training and provides dementia care that respects the veteran's service identity and experience.

Surviving spouse of a veteran

Many surviving spouses don't know they qualify for Aid & Attendance — or that eligibility survives the veteran's death if the marriage existed at time of passing and the spouse meets the need and financial criteria. A-Team screens surviving spouse eligibility as a first call.

Recently discharged veteran with service injury

Younger veterans with service-connected injuries, limb loss, TBI, or severe PTSD may qualify for VA-funded in-home care through different VA programs. A-Team coordinates with VA care managers and skilled nursing oversight to deliver care that meets VA requirements.
