VetAssist Program Pennsylvania: VA Aid & Attendance Home Care
A-Team Home Care is an enrolled VetAssist provider in Pennsylvania. Wartime veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for up to $2,229/month toward in-home care — at no cost to your family. We handle the entire application.
The VetAssist Program connects eligible wartime veterans and their surviving spouses with VA Aid & Attendance pension benefits to pay for in-home care. A-Team Home Care is an enrolled provider — meaning we accept VetAssist-funded care directly and guide families through every step of the VA application process at no upfront charge.
If your parent served during World War II, Korea, or Vietnam, they may be entitled to substantial monthly benefits they have never claimed. Call (215) 490-9994 for a no-obligation eligibility review.

† 2025 VA pension rates. Subject to annual cost-of-living adjustment. Benefit amount is reduced by countable income; most home care expenses offset income dollar-for-dollar.
Eligibility Requirements
All three criteria must be met to qualify for VA Aid & Attendance:
① Military Service
At least 90 days of active duty with an honorable discharge, including at least one day during a recognized wartime period. Does not require a service-connected disability.
② Care Need
A physician must certify that the veteran or surviving spouse requires help with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, or transferring — due to age, illness, or disability.
③ Financial Criteria
Net worth generally must be under $155,356 (2025 threshold, adjusted annually). Most unreimbursed medical and home care expenses reduce countable income, which can shift borderline cases into eligibility.
Qualifying Wartime Periods
At least one day of active service must fall within a recognized wartime period:
| War Period | Dates |
|---|---|
| World War II | December 7, 1941 — December 31, 1946 |
| Korean War Era | June 27, 1950 — January 31, 1955 |
| Vietnam War Era | August 5, 1964 — May 7, 1975 (February 28, 1961 for veterans who served “in country” in Vietnam before August 5, 1964) |
| Gulf War Era | August 2, 1990 — present (ongoing) |
Most A-Team VetAssist clients are Vietnam-era veterans and their surviving spouses. Korean War-era families often call to find that a parent still living at home qualifies.
How the VetAssist Program Works
Step 1
Free Eligibility Review
A-Team reviews service records (DD-214), care needs, and finances to determine if the veteran qualifies. No cost, no commitment.
Step 2
VA Application Assistance
VetAssist navigates the VA paperwork — Form 21-2680 physician examination, financial disclosure, service documentation — and submits the complete claim on your behalf.
Step 3
Care Starts Immediately
VetAssist can advance funds so care begins right away — while the VA application is still pending. Families do not wait 3–6 months for approval before getting help.
Step 4
VA Pays; You Keep the Care
Once the VA approves the pension, monthly benefit payments reimburse the advanced care costs and fund ongoing home care through A-Team.
